Gonzalo Solimano
Gonzalo Solimano began his career in the 1990s as a resident DJ at the main clubs in Buenos Aires, where he cultivated a personal style within house music, influenced by soul and disco. His curiosity and entrepreneurial spirit soon led him to produce his own events, which were immediately recognized for combining creativity and excellent production. He later created Artlab, an art and technology platform declared of Cultural Interest by the Buenos Aires City Legislature.
Artlab established itself as the epicenter of his practice: a space where Hi-Fi listening experiences, art galleries, live concerts, residencies, and international training and outreach activities converge. Since 2017, Solimano has directed the Argentine edition of the international MUTEK festival, expanding his influence on the global digital creativity scene.
Solimano heads up the Círculo de Sonido cycle, a sound ritual where every detail is carefully crafted to promote a dance experience, understood as a liberating act: immersive Hi-Fi audio calibrated before each edition, local and international references, and a focus on the house sound he is so passionate about.
His artistic vision, combined with deep technical knowledge and intuition shaped by his experience as an artist, have made him a unique cultural figure, creating spaces that expand the boundaries of digital art in Argentina and foster the development of innovative artists.
Solimano's curatorial strength and the quality of his artistic productions have made him a figurehead for international brands. His recent milestones include sound design for the launch of the Peugeot 3008 and 5008 models in 2025, audiovisual direction for Globant's 20th anniversary in New York alongside the Artlab team, and the creation of the audiovisual space at arteba 2024. He worked for Moët Chandon as curator of Chandon Art Ground in 2023, adding these experiences to a career marked by hundreds of projects connecting culture with organizations.
With Artlab now firmly established, a project that took several years of work, Solimano decided to return to music production. His new phase as an artist reflects the maturity he has acquired along the way.
Artlab is a laboratory that explores and employs new technologies and digital creativity to develop artistic projects, stimulate new forms of expression, and promote critical thinking from Latin America to the world.
We work with the most relevant artists at the intersection of art, music, and technology, always with an inclusive and collaborative spirit.
Our cultural center is a meeting point for the contemporary art scene and for an audience eager to discover new proposals that go beyond limits. A 540m2 warehouse located in the Audiovisual District of the City of Buenos Aires, it houses an art gallery/exhibition space, a listening bar, and a hybrid studio equipped with the most advanced audio, video, and lighting technology.
We actively work on coordinating projects in partnership with the British Council, Institut Français, Goethe-Institut, Canada Council for the Arts, Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec, Somerset House Studios, Swiss Arts Council Pro Helvetia, BA Cultura, arteBA, and the universities UNTREF and UNSAM.
We are part of the MUTEK international digital creativity festival network, one of the largest art and technology events globally.
In 2023, Artlab was declared of Cultural Interest by the Legislature of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires.
MUTEK is a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion and development of digital creativity in sound, music, and audiovisual art. Its mandate is to provide a platform for the most original and visionary artists currently working in their fields, with the intention of providing an outlet for initiation and discovery for the audiences we seek to develop.
MUTEK's main activity is the annual presentation of its eponymous festival, which has been held in Montreal since 2000. Since its first edition, the MUTEK festival has distinguished itself as an international event featuring original and avant-garde programming. In terms of content, the festival strives to be diverse, with interests in both the experimental and playful sides of digital creativity. MUTEK's programming aims to create a sound space that supports innovation in new electronic music and digital art. It is a world of constant evolution and relentless refinement: the “MU” in MUTEK consciously refers to the notion of “mutation.”
Over the years, the MUTEK festival has featured a considerable number of renowned artists while also serving as an important showcase for new talent. Each edition offers a remarkable variety of Canadian, North American, and even international premieres. The festival provides an open and welcoming environment that encourages exchange between artists, professionals, and the public; MUTEK is a meeting point that attracts participants from around the world to benefit from a context of active discovery. Many of the festival's participants have gained concrete and positive opportunities from their participation in it.
From the outset, MUTEK has sought to maintain and develop its relevance within its chosen community, striving to expand its sphere of activity beyond the main festival. These initiatives have multiplied since 2002, both in Montreal and on the international scene: showcases, tours, and international editions of the festival, not to mention a record label.
Today, there is a MUTEK network, with branches in North America, South America, Asia, and Europe, which provides an essential platform for promoting and exploring far-reaching artistic content, while reflecting a cultural effervescence that is both real and global.
